International Federation for Human Rights

Consisting of 192 organizations from 117 countries, the International Federation for Human Rights is a multinational human rights non-governmental organization.

The International Federation for Human Rights takes a democratic stance in its actions to resolve human rights violations.

The International Federation has the capability to go beyond borders in its endeavors to tackle these issues, working internationally with the relevant organizations of each country.

It is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-commercial organization, which allows it to tackle human rights issues from an impartial and unbiased standpoint.

Furthermore, the International Federation for Human Rights holds a meeting every 3 years, providing a forum for human rights issues to be discussed at an international scale.

Amnesty International

Amnesty International was established by Portuguese students in protest of human rights violations.

At the time of protest, the country was under dictatorship which impeded freedom of speech of the people.

However, Portuguese people had the freedom to toast.

Two students were detained for this occurrence.

The organization was initiated by supporters of Peter Benenson’s opposing views.

The purpose of Amnesty International is stated as below:

American Civil Liberties Union

The American Civil Liberties Union was founded in 1920 in the United States.

The origin of this organization lies in the infamous incident referred to as “The Palmer Raids”.

The Attorney General at the time, Mitchell Palmer, began a movement involving the deportation of radicals including socialists, anarchist and communists.

This resulted in thousands of people illegally arrested and imprisoned without warrant.

The American Civil Liberties Union was born with the objective of combatting this situation.

It is now an organization that supports and defends the fundamental human rights protected by the Unites States Constitution.

The majority of the times, the American Civil Liberties Union will attempt to resolve human rights issues in court.

Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch both investigates and reports on human rights violations that take place worldwide.

Human Rights Watch was first founded as the “Helsinki Watch” in 1978.

It was after the change in scope from domestic to international, that the name Human Rights Watch was derived.

It carries connections with global human resources in order to collect real time information.

Human Rights Watch works in conjunction with external experts.

Through these various means, they investigate human rights violations and report it to the public.

ABOUT Human Rights Watch

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was established with the intent to protest the discrimination of African descent in the United States.

They state the following:

“When we talk about race and justice, we’re talking about the ways the ways that discrimination, policing, prosecutions, and incarceration practices impact Black communities.”

Human Rights without Frontiers International

Human Rights without Frontiers International was founded in 1989 in Belgium.

Their aspirations lie in creating an environment in which human rights are exercised equally by all, indifferent to nationality, gender, race or ethnicity, religion, language or other status.

Global Rights was established in Washington, D.C. in 1978.

They are now working on human rights issues in Africa, with large focus on Nigeria.

The prospect of the International Human Rights Association is to create a society free of discrimination, based on truth and nonviolence.
